New Ideas Mark Twain

“A person with a new idea is a crank until the idea succeeds.” – Mark Twain

I think most of us who work for a living can see things around us that can use a little improvement. In many places, make that a lot of improvement. Yet, managers, like so many people, are not particularly open to new ideas or new ways of doing things. Other managers enforce a rule of change without thinking about it, or knowing enough to really provide useful changes. It is my experience, however, that the reality usually lies somewhere between my bright ideas and those dumb ideas the managers come up with. Change is good – as long as it has a purpose. Ideas are good – as long as they serve a goal. Silly ideas and mindless changes benefit no one, but one good idea that leads to a positive change is invaluable.
